Techno
A longstanding contender for position of 'biggest swinging dick' in
the Bangkok music universe, Joni Anwar has been involved with music
production and performance for longer than he would like to remember.
Coining such infamous dance moves as 'the train ride', his greng jai
attitude and fine tuned ear for pumpin' dance hooks quickly propelled
him to the top of the charts. Sadly, those days are long gone and
recently his more personal, some would say experimental, projects are
commonly dismissed as "too weird" by now Ex fans. When asked how he
was coping with his ever diminishing fanbase and the absence of
dependable groupies, Joni replied forcing a smile - "What are you
gonna do?.." Joni's catalogue of work consists of 5 full length albums
and countless collaborations with musicians and artists of all
backgrounds - his most effective collaboration that with
musician/producer Montonn Jira. After having worked together on
various past projects, including the popular hit Go Now for which Joni
received a Fat Radio Award, the two decided to harness their shared
affinity for electronic music and Beatlesque pop melodies and Katsue
was born. Yet another incarnation of this inspired partnership, 'Pra
Jao Jord' is a step away from the song based Katsue, gearing more
towards club life and the mayhem of the dance floor. Schooling the
masses with some of the most cutting edge techno in the region, their
monthly parties dubbed 'Lessons' provide a haven for beat addicted
techno fans who also crave something a little different.
