He moved on to playing live techno at raves in the late '90s with local outfit Transformantra before travelling Asia where he learned the craft of digital DJing. After headlining Ministry of Sound on a Friday night in Taipei, Taiwan, Gibbs returned to Toronto around 2002 and sidestepped the city's nightclub mania for underground warehouse parties, honing his dark, glitchy, industrial-layered laptop beats. Frequently on the bill for the much-loved Promise events, Gibbs is working with fellow Torontonians DJ Hali and Lachlan Bleakely ( a.k.a. Locwax) on new projects as well as a monthly warehouse party called Box of Kittens. Meanwhile, his bootleg remixes with producer Gaz Mellen as Genetically Modified are circulating the scene.
